River Terrace
River Terrace is a large dairy farm and they commissioned me to create multiple areas for them around the workers cottages, at the dairy shed and entrance and the main house.
The brief at the dairy shed entrance was to make a braided river to pay tribute to the Rangitata River next to the farm. At the dairy shed we planted fruit trees in wild flowers with an area for workers to sit under the trees and have smoko. There was also a large triangle area where we put some large rocks and silver birches surrounded by grasses and wild flowers.
At one of the workers cottages we planted multiple large exotic trees in a small unused paddock to create an open forest area in years to come.
The main house had a large open lawn with no garden so we created a dry creek bed curving through to a circular courtyard with a tree in the middle. The tree will grow large and create a shaded area underneath for entertaining with views up to the mountains. The dry creek bed is surrounded in garden of green and white colours which when grown will create a cool refreshing feel which is really needed in this dry hot part of the country.
High Country Earthworks came and brought the designs to life (and dug the hundreds of holes for the trees!)
