Most gardens are an afterthought. A patch of lawn, a few plants along the fence, something that came with the house and never really became yours. If you've ever looked out at your section and thought "I know this could be so much more," you're probably right.

I'm Rebecca Young, a qualified landscape designer with over 10 years of experience helping homeowners across South Canterbury create outdoor spaces they genuinely love. With a background in nursery work and a certificate in landscape design, I bring both plant knowledge and design thinking to every project. From Ashburton to Waimate and up into the Mackenzie, I work with people who want a garden that reflects their personality, suits their lifestyle, and becomes a place they actually want to spend time.

Design that starts with listening

Every project begins with a free visit to your property, where I take the time to understand what you're hoping for. Your likes and dislikes, how you use your outdoor space now, and how you'd like to use it. There's no rush to that conversation, because getting it right from the start is what makes the difference between a garden you like and one you love.

From there, I develop a couple of design concepts, each with a 3D walkthrough video so you can really picture the finished result before any decisions are made. If you want to take it further, I'll develop a full master plan, complete with drawings and a plant list. And if you'd like help bringing it all to life, I can coordinate the contractors, source the plants, and manage the project through to completion.

You're free to step in or out at any stage, taking as much or as little as suits you.
